The Fund for Taos Awards $552,000 in COVID-19 Response Grants!

As of December 1, 2020 Taos Community Foundation has awarded nearly 80 grants to local nonprofits through this emergency action fund.

In its first phase, from March to July, the Fund for Taos deployed $249,700 to local organizations on the front lines of the pandemic through rapid-relief grants. The majority of these grants assisted with basic needs (food, shelter, access to care, etc), which at that time reflected the greatest needs of the community.

As we continued to move into summer months, it became obvious that we needed to approach a second phase of funding in addition. In August, we launched a grant application process with focus areas outlined as: Education, Food Systems, Art & Culture, Behavioral Health, Non Profit Support and Housing.

Utilizing small advisory committees to do this review work, grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations that are directly responding to the significant consequences of this crisis in creative and collaborative ways. Focus is on pivoting both programmatic work and organizational management to enhance existing programming or to develop new programming that will otherwise meet the demands of this new situation.
