A Letter from the CEO - Text for 2024 Annual Report

For over 30 years, Taos Community Foundation has been guided by a vision of neighbors helping neighbors across Taos and western Colfax counties. Our mission continues today through the generosity of our community members, who give their time, talent, and resources to build a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

In the 2025 fiscal year, our cycle of giving continued. Over $3 million was received by Taos Community Foundation, with nearly $2.5 million granted out to nonprofits doing creative and impactful work. In addition to our grantmaking efforts, TCF awarded 37 new scholarships to local students. These recipients join more than 80 other students we continue to support as they pursue college or career education after high school.

We are proud to support the causes that you care about. This year, we raised funds through our Ridge-A-Thon event to support nonprofits meeting urgent medical needs, helped bring vision care to students through our funding for the Lion’s Club “Eye Van,” built towards sustainability by supporting the Regional Landfill Board’s recycling project proposal, and once again collaborated with Taos Education Collaborative’s free community camp, which doubled its reach to provide more than 150 students with free high-quality summer learning.

Community priorities shared with us this year included building affordable housing, providing funding to address homelessness, honoring our community’s heritage, supporting neighbors in need, and expanding trust-based grantmaking within the nonprofit sector. The challenges we face together are difficult, but through the power of collective engagement, we can each make a difference.

As one community member beautifully shared with us at an event, “The residents of Taos County are our strongest resource and asset.” We couldn’t agree more!

Please spend some time with our annual report and see the impact of what TCF and the residents of Taos and Colfax counties accomplished through care and generosity, bringing local vision and solutions to life!

Thank you for helping build a community where all Taoseños can thrive!

2023-2024 Restricted vs. Unrestricted Assets

2024-2025 Grant Distribution Types

TCF-Directed Grants are primary awards given out via competitive TCF grant cycles. Donor-Directed Grants are awards directed by individual donors to the foundation from their funds. Strategic Partnership Grants are awards made by a community partner, through and with TCF, to address a specific need in our community. Recent examples of strategic partnership grants are the Taos County ARPA grants and the Anchorum Heath Foundation grants.
