Stray Hearts Animal Shelter

Stray Hearts Animal Shelter, established in 1999 as a 501(c)3 organization, is a Socially Conscious shelter and adoption facility reuniting lost pets with their families and providing humane care and shelter for surrendered, lost, and homeless companion animals in Taos County, New Mexico.
Stray Hearts gives warm beds to frightened strays, accepts abandoned litters of puppies and kittens, and provides a home for surrendered pets. The organization’s focus on accomplishing its program goals, and expanding training and organizational support serve to improve the quality of life for all of the animals in its care.
Stray Hearts Animal Shelter, d/b/a The Humane Society of Taos is proud to join the Socially Conscious Sheltering movement and has adopted its core principles as its own organizational values. The Socially Conscious Animal Community concept is based on respectful treatment of animals, placing every healthy and safe animal, transparency and leadership, thoughtful public policy, and safe communities.
