This annual award honors a nonprofit organization that has developed a clear, inspiring and achievable vision for the future, developed collaborative partnerships, demonstrated that the vision connects to community needs and priorities, and made measurable progress towards achieving that vision.
The winner of the Taos Community Foundation – Nonprofit of the Year Award receives a $5,000.00 grant to continue their work in the community.
Nomination guidelines:
Nominations will be considered for eligible non-profit organizations that have operated for at least three years.
For the purposes of this award nomination, an eligible nonprofit organization is defined as: “An IRS approved tax exempt 501(C)3 organization in good standing with the State of New Mexico.”
All organizations must operate in Taos and/or western Colfax counties.
Who can nominate an organization?
Board members, staff members, supporters, and community members. Nominators will be asked to provide their name and contact information.
Winning this award does not prevent an organization from applying for or receiving other grant awards from Taos Community Foundation.
Please feel free to nominate more than one organization. A new form is required for a separate nomination.
When are nominations due?
Nominations open on June 20th, 2026 at 8:00AM.
Nominations are due August 28, 2026 by 5:00PM.

Note: The Nonprofit of the Year award is determined by an internal committee at Taos Community Foundation. Each organization will be represented once in the pool of nominations, and this award is not decided by number of submissions. While we encourage all eligible organizations to apply, it is important to note that multiple submissions to an organization do not increase the likelihood of winning.
