Emergency FundsJackrabbit Emergency Relief Fund provided funds for disaster and emergency relief. Katrina. Years have passed since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita struck the Gulf Coast affecting over one million people and resulting in the largest natural disaster in U.S. history. TCF accepted the outpouring of community contributions and awarded them to the Gulf Coast community foundation. This assistance helped people receive critical care in a time of utmost need. When the Encebado Fire broke out on the 4th of July above Taos Pueblo, Taos Community Foundation activated the Jack Rabbit Fund to provide a vehicle for getting supplies and support to the agencies fighting the fire. Contributions collected at all the banks were used to purchase supplies that were not being covered by standard operations. TCF awarded grants to: The Taos Volunteer Fire Dept, Don Fernando Fire Dept, and the Taos Pueblo Fire Relief Fund. The balance of the contributions were used to purchase loads of supplies that were delivered to both the Taos Pueblo firefighters and the firefighting supply tent at the Pow-Wow grounds. Thank you to Taos for all the contributions! |
