Council of Professional Advisors

Working with Community Foundations what is it all about?
Helping you help your clients with charitable giving

Sweeping changes are affecting the world of philanthropy. The dramatic growth of new wealth, the desire of individuals to be more involved with their charitable giving, the increasing diversity of potential donors and the intergenerational transfer of wealth are just a few factors influencing this change.

You are invited to join Taos Community Foundation’s Professional Advisors Network

This is an opportunity to join us in an ongoing informational discussion about ways you can assist your clients with charitable giving. We appreciate the value that you, as a professional advisor, bring to your clients as they consider major life decisions.

Our community foundation wants to support you as you help your clients consider charitable giving options.

Why?    Because:

  1. We partner with professional advisors to create highly effective approaches to charitable giving
  2. We offer maximum tax advantage under state and federal law
  3. We multiply the impact of gift dollars by pooling them with other gifts and grants
  4. We build endowment funds that benefit the community forever and help create personal legacies
  5. We are a community leader, convening agencies and resources to create positive change

Each individual, family, or organization has unique charitable interests and unique financial circumstances. Taos Community Foundation offers your clients the opportunity to address a broad range of local needs through a variety of giving instruments and funds.

The Network is a group of local professionals who wish to be recognized as advocates of philanthropy to enhance life in Taos and Northern New Mexico. The health of a community is directly related to the concern its citizens have for one another.  We help to encourage this concern through an alliance with local professional advisors. The goal of the Network is to sustain a united presence relative to the importance of philanthropy.

1. The Taos Community Foundation will be responsible for the ongoing publication of information to encourage citizens to be actively involved in their communities.  The message will be simple: philanthropy is essential for a community’s health and well-being.  By volunteering their time and providing gifts to their favorite charitable causes, citizens will help to make their communities more rewarding places in which to live.

This information will appear in local newspapers and Taos Community Foundation newsletters and annual reports.  We also will post it on our web site.  If you wish, we will include a link to your web site as well.

2. By having your name attached to this communication, you will receive e-mail updates from the foundation on current planned giving and tax-related issues.  As a member of the National Council on Foundations, we have access to a wealth of information.  The Council provides references for further study of an issue and those references have proven to be beneficial and enlightening.

3. We will seek occasional input from you on relevant community issues.  Periodically, we will e-mail questions to you regarding ways we might be more helpful to you and your clients.  We will not seek professional advice. We will seek your thoughts on ways in which we can provide the services you need to assist your clients with their charitable goals.

4. Please note that there are no meetings or obligations to attend any events and there is no financial commitment required of members.  We are simply seeking to form a coalition of professional community leaders who will serve as an example to their fellow citizens.  As a member, you have no obligations and many benefits.
If you wish to be included as a member of the Taos Community Foundation Network of Professional Advisors, we ask you to do the following:

  1. Please respond by e-mailing Elizabeth Crittenden-Palacios. Include how you wish to have your name listed in the publication.
  2. Our listing of members on our web site will include the name of your business if you wish.  Please indicate the proper way to list the name of your firm.
